General Maintenance and Cleaning Suggestions Pick up toys from yard, mow and trim.
Clean front door (repaint if necessary).
Add a pot of flowers to the porch and don’t forget to water. (no dead ones please)
Make sure your door lock works well and you have a key for it.
View your home through the eyes of a stranger, now step back and look again!
Pack up all unnecessary items that you can live without until you move. Pack some more.
Now, really get ruthless and pack up the rest of the junk.
Have a giant yard sale with all the things you now know you can live without.
Either deep clean your home yourself, call in favors to friends and relatives, or use the money you made on your yard sale to hire a professional house cleaner. Some of the things you need to pay particular attention to are………
- Cobwebs around the ceilings and corners
- Dust on the baseboards
- Dirty windows and light fixtures (they can’t let light in if they’re covered with dust)!
- Air filters and return grates
- Stained or dirty carpets
- Cluttered refrigerator
- Too many personal pictures, craft items, and collectibles (all distract people from seeing your home).
Use the rest of your yard sale money to buy paint for touch up painting. OR…if the sale was really successful, hire the painter too.
Get your pets out of the house and air it out. At the very least, keep them outside or in the cages in the garage while home is shown. Better yet, take them for a ride, they’ll love you for it.
Bake an apple pie or light a clean smelling candle just before showings and ?GET READY TO MOVE!!?
These suggestions are to help you receive THE MOST MONEY from your home in the shortest period of time.
